A pub that photographs bright stops being a pub.

The instinct on any dark interior is to light it until everything is visible, and it is the wrong instinct here. The dark is the product. What people are buying is the corner, the low ceiling, the warm pool of light over a table and the rest of the room falling away — so the work was in protecting the shadows while keeping enough detail that the space still reads.
