Travcotels - The Jaz Regent

Photography aboard the Jaz Regent, sailing the Nile between Luxor and Aswan.

A Nile cruiser is a hotel that moves, and that single fact rewrites how you shoot it.

On land, if the light is wrong you come back tomorrow. On the river you get one pass at every bank, every mooring and every stretch of palm, and the ship is somewhere else by the time you have changed your mind. Everything is planned against the sailing schedule rather than the other way round.

Cabins add the second constraint. They are narrow by design, with one window doing all the work, so the interiors were lit to keep that window as the light source a guest will recognise rather than replacing it with something the room does not have.
